Terms of Service

The ground rules for using GenesiOS websites, downloads, community resources, and project services.

Last updated: July 7, 2026

This page is provided for transparency and is not legal advice. If GenesiOS is used in a regulated, commercial, enterprise, school, government, or safety-critical setting, review these terms with qualified counsel before relying on them.

01

Who these terms apply to

These Terms of Service apply when you access GenesiOS websites, downloads, documentation, package indexes, community links, release pages, or other official project resources that link to these terms.

GenesiOS is an open-source operating system project and software distribution. Separate open-source licenses, including licenses for GenesiOS code and third-party packages, may give you additional rights that these terms do not limit.

02

Open-source software and licenses

GenesiOS includes original project components, upstream open-source software, packages from Arch/CachyOS-style repositories, and third-party tools. Each component is governed by its own license terms.

Where GenesiOS components are distributed under GPL-3.0 or another open-source license, those license terms control your right to copy, modify, inspect, redistribute, and run that software. These terms govern project services and website use, not an attempt to remove open-source rights.

03

Downloads, packages, and updates

Images, installers, package databases, manifests, and update channels are provided to help users install or maintain GenesiOS. You are responsible for verifying that a download is appropriate for your device and for keeping backups of important data.

Rolling-release systems, testing channels, GPU drivers, AI workloads, kernel changes, package updates, and user modifications can affect stability. Do not install GenesiOS on machines where downtime, data loss, or incompatibility would create unacceptable risk unless you have tested and prepared accordingly.

04

AI Mode and local AI tools

GenesiOS may include AI Mode, local model tooling, monitoring interfaces, memory/indexing tools, agent terminals, or related first-party apps. These tools are designed for local-first workflows, but your actual privacy and safety depend on the models, connectors, scripts, repositories, prompts, and services you choose to use.

You are responsible for reviewing generated output, commands, code changes, model behavior, and system modifications before relying on them. Do not use AI-generated output as professional advice or as the sole basis for security, medical, legal, financial, or safety-critical decisions.

05

Community spaces and contributions

If you participate in GenesiOS issue trackers, discussions, forums, wikis, pull requests, or other community spaces, keep contributions lawful, respectful, relevant, and free of malware, spam, credential leaks, harassment, or attempts to compromise other users.

By submitting code, documentation, images, issues, comments, or other content to public project spaces, you represent that you have the right to share it and that it can be handled under the applicable repository, platform, and project contribution terms.

06

Acceptable use

You may not use project services to attack infrastructure, distribute malicious content, abuse package or release systems, scrape services in a disruptive way, impersonate project maintainers, or misrepresent unofficial builds as official GenesiOS releases.

If you redistribute modified images, packages, themes, apps, or documentation, clearly mark them as modified or unofficial where required by the applicable license and where needed to avoid confusing users.

07

No warranty

GenesiOS resources are provided as-is and as-available, without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, availability, compatibility, security, or error-free operation, to the maximum extent allowed by law.

The project may change, remove, rename, or discontinue websites, repositories, packages, images, documentation, features, support channels, or update paths at any time.

08

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent allowed by law, the GenesiOS project, maintainers, contributors, and affiliated community operators are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, including data loss, downtime, lost profits, device issues, security incidents, or dependency breakage.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.

09

Contact and changes

Questions about these terms can be raised through the official GenesiOS GitHub repository or other official project channels linked from the website.

These terms may be updated as GenesiOS changes. The updated date above shows when this page was last revised. Continuing to use project services after changes means you accept the updated terms.
